A. To enjoy the simplicity of sending templates from any app, you do need to install the keyboard. However, you can still use Crisp without the keyboard installed to manage your email templates and send new emails directly from the app.
A. Instructions to install the keyboard can be found in the menu of the app on the "Install Keyboard" tab. If you are more of a visual person, we've put together a quick video that can be viewed here.
A. Unlike most third party keyboards, we do NOT require you to turn on full access to use the keyboard. Actually, it’s not even an option to do this. This means all your correspondence from the app and keyboard stays private. We cannot track your keystrokes, your location, see the templates you use, or monitor any messages you send. Our full privacy policy lives here.
A. Most people use Crisp to manage email templates. After email, people use it to manage text templates and social media updates. You can also use our keyboard in any app (ex: WhatsApp, Slack, Quora, etc.) that allows the use of 3rd party keyboards.
A. Yep! iCloud syncing happens automatically between your devices and is associated with your Apple ID. No additional account is required to setup. This means your templates on your iPhone will show up on your iPad automatically if you using the same Apple ID on the device.
A. If you are offline or in airplane mode, the changes you've made to your templates on any device will sync up automatically the next time you open the app. You’ll see the “✓ iCloud Sync Enabled” confirmation message on the folders page once you’re back online.
A. First, close out the app completely and restart. Most of the time this takes care of any syncing issues. Look for the “✓ iCloud Sync Enabled” confirmation message to appear at the bottom of the folders page. If you see this, you’re good to go.
If you are still having problems with iCloud sync that are not resolving after restarting the app on each device, you can refresh the local data on your device. To do this go into your device “Settings” then scroll down to the app list and select “Crisp”. Switch on the “Refresh Local Data” button to delete your local templates and re-download all the stored data from iCloud. This will take effect when you close the app and re-launch it. Typically this is a last resort as you may lose data if it did not sync properly up to iCloud in the first place.
A. There is limited space on the keyboard and typically with some rearranging, most people can fit their templates within 10 categories. You can also add an extra "Favorites" folder by starring your favorite templates for quick access.
A. No limit! Go ahead and add templates to your hearts desire.
A. Not currently.
A. Yes! All you need to do is open template you'd like to move and select the folder icon at the bottom. Then you can move the template to any folder you've already created.
A. Nope, it only removes them from being a favorite template.
A. You can copy and paste the text from your email templates into a new template in Crisp. This is a one-time setup on your device and it will automatically update the other devices that have Crisp installed and linked to your iCloud account.
A. Not currently, however you can always link to an image if it is important to include in your template.
A. Please use the full URL (ex: www.apple.com) in your email instead of hyperlinked text. The URL will automatically become clickable when the template is sent. If you have a long link, you can use a free link shortener like Bitly.
A. When you copy a template or email signature that has HTML into a Crisp template, the app will strip out all HTML and leave the plain text. This is to ensure template consistency across email providers, text messages, and other apps.
A. Of course and it's encouraged. 😃
